FAQ

What You Need To Know

What is Professional Cuddling?

Cuddling is just what it sounds like; holding someone close as a way of showing love or affection. There are lots of different cuddle positions, ranging from Companioning (sitting side by side, with or without arms or legs touching) to Spooning (lying on our sides, facing the same way, where one partner hugs the other partner’s back).

Professional Cuddling can include lots of touch, or very little. It can also be more than just touch. It can be a treatment, like a massage, where one comes to simply get one’s touch needs met. It can also be more like a coaching or therapeutic session, where the Cuddler holds space for emotions as well as physical space.

Is it really just cuddling?

Yes, it’s really just cuddling, completely platonic. It’s non-sexual, non-romantic and non-erotic. People have used the words nurturing, caring, peaceful, calming and comforting to describe our cuddle sessions.

What does platonic mean?

According to the dictionary, platonic means “intimate and affectionate but not sexual”. For me, it means non-romantic, non-erotic and non-sexual. In a platonic cuddling session, we don’t purposely do anything that sparks or stokes a romantic or sexual tone.

What if I get aroused while cuddling?

Well, that does happen. Sometimes, arousal can happen simply because we are relaxed and experiencing pleasure. Remember, “we don’t purposely do anything that sparks or stokes a sexual tone”. If it does happen, we might take a moment to celebrate, “hey, our bodies are working – Yay!” Then we might take a break, get a drink of water, or adjust to a different cuddle position. What we don’t do is shame or judge. Arousal is natural, we just don’t want to focus on it in session.

Is it really safe?

Absolutely! Leaders in the Cuddling industry have worked hard to create a Code of Ethics, which help create a safe environment for both Cuddlers and Clients.

How does it work? (what to expect in a session)

When I receive your request to cuddle, we will schedule a 20-30 minute conversation to discuss what you are looking for in a session, and make sure we are a good match. If we are both comfortable with moving forward, we’ll schedule a session and you’ll pay in advance.

In-person sessions take place at a Wellness Studio/office in Old Town Orange. After a welcome, we will begin with a few moments to review the Code of Conduct, and become comfortable with one another. We might start with some breathing together, or guided relaxation. We’ll have conversation about how you would like the session to progress (e.g., how much touch, music or quiet, who guides the session), and we’ll co-create a loving and nurturing environment. Laughter and tears are equally welcome.

Virtual sessions take place via Zoom, in a private room, but the same principles apply. We will co-create a cozy and comfortable time together.

Virtual Cuddling? What’s that?!?

My virtual sessions are tailored to your needs. We can be cozy and quiet together, we can talk or be quiet, laugh or cry, sing together, I can read a story to you. We can do some mirroring games which will help us to feel connected and cared for.
